EP Review: Love and other Crimes by Masked Intruder

Your favorite color coded mischief makers come breaking back in through your backdoor with “Love and Other Crimes”.

Returning with the same ramones-core influenced, pop punk fuelled sound that had won your heart as their self titled full length album, only this time around they substitute the polished, synth driven new waved stylings as seen on tracks such as “I don’t want to be alone tonight” with more of a AC/DC, driving guitar rock feel kicked straight off by “Take what I want”.

This stripped back, grittier feel runs throughout the 6 tracks that make up love and other crimes, nestled sweetly under the smooth pop vocals of Intruder Blue as he croons about, well, as you’d expect from the technicolor crooks, acquisition of items of interest, unrequited love and the challenges of avoiding the law.

5 tear soaked balaclavas out of 5.

Words by Toffer Rush.
